I went to register my old domain but some site named Moniker has it. i went there and they're selling it for $400... wtf, nobody would buy it. I wanted to know that if a site stealing mogul like this would be able to renew their claim on MY OLD domain when it expires next month?
Anybody know about www.moniker.com and how/why they registered my domain?
Also, since it's expiring this year, is it possible for me to get it back the day it expires?

They are a registrar, most likely its one of their customers who purchased it.
Most deleted domains are registered by these type of sites if your domain gets any traffic or is listed in google/yahoo/msn, there is nothing you can do to get it back (besides paying whatever they ask) so do not let your domains expire.
They use very advanced automated methods to grab domains the domain as soon as its deleted, so if they want it you have no chance.

There is no way to know.
Is there any reason why you cannot renew or transfer the domain?

For sites like this, do people renew their subscription to the site? I mean, if it expires, do they say, I'm gong to register it for another year!

It depends if it is listed in a search engine and gets hits. I had a domain that i let expire 3 or 4 years ago and the company still owns it.

What if like it only gets like 80 hits in a year? Would they give it up then? I MEAN, how can I buy it back from them?

Its up to them if they want to keep it, they could decide to keep it or drop it no matter what. Alot of the time they just keep the domain even if its not making money, because say they have 10,000 domains, if they sell even 2% of them for $400 they make money.
