Weird Issue..

My site is going REALLY slow right now and all the post on my forum are gone! The members are still registered, but my forum is empty! What happened?

Dude Im having the same problem with my site being slow its saying its a 10Mbit Connection I thought it was 100Mbit and as far as my post in my forum there still there.

The only issue here I guess would be speed...

My forum was somehow hacked or something and some dude used the same name as me....told my supermod to delete all posts and he did....

Ahhh! I just started the forum yesterday!! I'm so pissed off right now...

I see the server load was very high, its going down now by itself so I can only trace the problem while its in progress, maybe it was the due to one of the two accounts i just closed for unrelated reasons. I will watch to see if it happens again.

Forum hacking nothing to do with us, make sure your scripts are secure.
We have measures to prevent one account hacking another account, but if you let hacker into your own account, he can do whatever he wants to it.

^^Yeah I know. That's why in my second post I said only the speed was the issue here. I have the up to date script of MyBB going and someone managed to make the same username as me "Admin" and tell my mod to delete the posts...

I still don't know how in the world my mod would listen to him if he doesn't even have an "Administrator" rank...

It was denial of service attack, ip has been blocked from firewall and the ISP notified.

Well I just got more I found out. My mods account was hacked into just now. His email address changed into a spammers "temp" inbox. He posted some rather nasty pics on my forum and I deleted them as fast as I could and banned him for it. It wasn't the real him. I know because I know him. And his IP was very different. I wish I could do something to get back at these people....

Porn isn't illegal, only things like child porn.

Wow it's been going really slow ...

No I don't mean I know them in real life but we've known eachother over the net for over a year now. I run the site and he's my mod. The IP my mod was posting from was much different and so I assume someone hacked his account because of the way he was acting and what he posted (porn...). He also doesn't get on that early in the day either so it caught me as strange.

I don't know how this person got into his account (or managed to make double accounts of usernames already registered) but he's still following us somehow!

I deleted the other site, made a new one so it's a new URL now to it and he found us again (I think) because I see that same (or near same) IP address viewing as a guest. And I haven't told anyone about the site yet except about four or five people and I know what their IP's are like. (the ranges.)

The server has been down a few times so I guess that's stopped him from trying anything right now...

Change your hosting account password and check any user accounts.

He hasn't gotten into my hosting account. Apperantely here's how it went down. He somehow managed to email from my account to my mod. He told my mod my account could only send but not read and he told him to give him his password so he can get into the forums. He said there was an issue and couldn't login (still pretending to be me). And my mod gave him his password so he could go under my mods name.

From then on that's what happened. He deleted everything and I banned him. IP address, and the proxy he used the first time.

I do not know who he is but he's going to attack again tonight (most probably.) I'm going to make the forum with registrations off and I've told everyone to not believe any of the emails sent from said account.

I'll be doing a few more security checks on my forum today and make sure he can't find a way to make "double" accounts again.....still don't know how he managed that...
