View Full Version : Just about this forum...
Could you guys possibly change one of the settings on this forum?
I've been wanting to ask about this since the beginning but then I just didn't really mind it and pretty much got used to it.
But some members might miss some posts around here or something...
Anyways, the thing is, could you make it so that when we read the posts, it marks them as "Read" ? As it's set up right now, we have to view the post and then view the forum it was posted in so it's marked as read.
It's in the AdminCP somewhere.
Also another question. Does Tyler have full Admin powers? For some reason I keep thinking he probably doesn't... (As in, able to create forums, edit settings, etc.)

Moved to general chat, this is not a support question.
Its just the way vbulletin works, i do not think there is a way to change it.
Yes Tyler is a forum admin.
I posted it there because underneath it says:
Post here if you have a question or a problem. And yes, I know that's how vB works, but that's default. You can change it in the AdminCP to mark them automatically.
Also I asked about Tyler and his permissions because vB doesn't give a second Admin the whole list of permissions. They're basically just Super-Mods. You have to go into the AdminCP and edit his permissions so he has more power. (Able to create forums, categories, change settings, etc.)
vB doesn't give them all by default so he might not even be able to do those things. Have you asked him? In the AdminCP he would only have a very small list of features that he can do and I think they're basically just Mod type things, which is rather weak seeing as how he should be able to do more around here.
But then again I don't know if he does or not. It's just he seemed interested in helping before with the whole "More forums" thread we had going but I just assumed he was waiting for you to do it since he couldn't.
We'll see though.

I can not find anything in the admin area to change it.
I just went onto the vBulletin Demo at vBulletin.com and it should be located in the following procedure:
On the left in the AdminCP you should see the drop down blocks. One says "vBulletin Options". Click it and then click on the option "vBulletin Options" which should be inside that block.
Go to "General Settings" in the box that shows up showing you the different sections.
Scroll down and you should see an option that says "Thread/Forum Read Marking Type".
Under that there's three choices:
Inactivity/Cookie Based
Database (no automatic forum marking)
Database (automatic forum marking)
Click on the bottom one: Database (automatic forum marking)
And now scroll down and click "Save" at the bottom button.
===========================================
I couldn't find the one about giving the other Admin all the permissions an Admin should have though. (Probably because it's just a demo and they don't want people screwing around and messing things up.)
But it should be around there somewhere :)

Ok its changed.
Thanks :)
Everyone should click on "Mark all forums read" if you've already read the posts. Then everything should be normal and when you read a post, you won't have to view the forum it was posted in for it to be marked "Read" :)
Mark Forums Read (http://forum.unlimitedmb.com/forumdisplay.php?do=markread) < Click if you can't find it. :)
