lol, after preparing my 13,121 mp3 files (yep you read it right) and html, i am now beginning to thing i am having upload problems because of spaces in my filenames and folder names...

C'mon admin, break it to me gently. Some files have taken to the server so see for yourselves, but here are some examples...
((i placed a smart ftp log txt file in the root upload folder))

folder-names

1998 11 10 As close to house as jsm gets
1999 03 22 Belongs in the background
1999 03 23 415volts 3phase
1999 03 29 its like finding a needle in a haystack
etc...

file-names

19981110 135a LooP a01.mp3
19981110 135a LooP a02.mp3
19981110 135a LooP a03.mp3
19981110 135a LooP a04.mp3
19981110 135a LooP a05.mp3
19981110 135a LooP a06.mp3
''''''' a99.mp3
and so on and so on...

Please let me know if this is the reason why most of the files i upload just dissappear, although some have taken as you will see...

If so, have you got any ideas on wildcard batch files or commands to replace spaces in filenames. The html i can cope with, but 13000mp3's phew!

p.s. I was also under the impression it was a 2Mb limmit. 1Mb might be cutting it a bit fine for me. Any chance you could swing it?

thnx guys

We allow spaces in filenames.

If a file dissapears after its uploaded then its bigger then 1MB.
We are not a file storage service.

Files uploaded must be used as part of your website.

don't you find it contradictory having your hosting service called "unlimited mb" yet have a restriction and limitation on how many mb can be uploaded?

Hi Admin

Definately not filesize. The files are 56kbytes. Tiny tiny. Just noticed though, that in the 'As close...' folder out of 15 mp3 files, the only 3 that took to your servers were files that didnt have my copyright info attatched.

N.B. these are my Copyrighted files, not pirated, and not for file-hosting, but for musicians to try out and jam to with a guitar or whatever tickles their fancy...

While bulk updating my mp3's TAGs (using tag editor), the editor has accidently left some out, and these seem to be the files that stuck to your server...

Either... Your servers are assuming pirated files, in which case you will need to dis-able this, or my audio mp3's are somehow un-identifiable thru the www ((work fine on PC)) or my Tag Editor has actually corrupted their header info...
((other servers had no probs with my song files with the copyrighted info attatched))

let me know what you think?

The server verifies the headers, and checks that the size of the file matches what the headers say it should be.

If you have used some program to modifiy the files, then you have corrupted them.

Yep!
Its true, Eric's a genius. Did a quick ftp upload of the '... As close to house as jsm gets ...' folder (last folder in percussion list in-case any1s interested) replacing new mp3's without the tags edited and presto!!!

It seems then that 'Mp3 Tag Editor' doesnt update the header as all the previous headers that were edited had a value of 0bytes, as apposed to the original files of varying bytes.

Thnx Eric...

p.s. Can any1 out there reccommend a freeware mp3 tag editor that batch converts, and updates the header info appropiately... ?
