Ok so today I decided I was going to play wiki man...I'm trying to upload/install MediaWiki ... but running into a lot of brick walls. Everytime I try to manually upload any of the files the upload times out. So I was wondering is there a wiki starter pack that ulmb suggests for people to use? say one that may come as a template for its members so they don't have to waste time and company bandwidth trying to install ones they find? I've never played with Wiki's before but I have seen more then my fair share and they can be useful. So I figured I would try one out in my own space before trying to go to some major wiki homeland...

thats the thing I don't get an error because it won't upload, I know the actual file downloaded from their site is to big so I uncompressed it and broke it down into smaller pieces but none of them will upload. So its not really a php installation issue...yet of course...

Try change between passive (PASV) and PORT mode, try one then the other, use whichever works for you.

ok so in passive mode I actually do manage to get an error, some of the file extensions cannot be uploaded. php5 or phtml

so with that I'm to assume that people with free accounts can not utilize the functionality of wiki's from their dedicated space.

*edit*

also have I have read many of the other wiki threads so I do know the explination as to why the .htaccess is restricted and that its not needed, but I did not see anything about the php5 or phtml

php files should be named .php
there is (officially) no such thing as a .php5 extension.

ok then can you tell me why the files that came with it have a .php and a .php5? I uploaded all the .php files and just assumed the .php5 were something above and beyond what I would need...or alteast I hope so lol

Well you would need to ask mediawiki about this, but seeing as our other customers are using it without the .php5 i will take a guess and say you dont need them.
