I have been trying for 2 days to backup my site. I get a blank white page that says done on the bottom left. Is this just me or what ? Need to get the site backed up..
As always thanks for the support..

Backup function is working fine.
Your firewall or some software on your pc is probably blocking it.
or your browser is timing out before the backup can be completed.
It would have to be the timing out I guess. My PC has been on over a month and nothing has changed to cause it to all of a sudden not work. Also 3 Others have tried with same result..
Any suggestions on how I can backup ?

I have tested it and it works for me.
There is nothing else I can do.
You can download your files with ftp.
Well make that 6 people that has tried. 2 of which run there own hosting sites.
I will not do FTP as alot always gets corrupted..
Thanks anyway..
Oh this still happens with firewall off, and no matter what browser we use..

Your site is too big and the server is timing out trying to make the backup.
The backup system will need to be modified to fix this.
It will be done in a few days.
Hate coming back on an Admin but...
The last backup I did was 493.MB
Since I have removed 10 Modules now the size is
392.MB. How is it always has before but not now?
If I don't ask I don't learn..

It could be many things.
But i can see from the error log that its timing out after 30 seconds.

Has this been done yet ? I still can't backup anything. I try in FTP but it never grabs all the files..
Thanks

Its not done yet sorry, i know I said a few days, but really the whole backup system needs to be rewritten, its very inefficient.
Do you not keep your files on your computer?
In years of running websites i have always kept and modified website files on my pc, and then uploaded the changes to the web server, this way never need to download backups, because i already have it on the pc.
Usually I try to back up everything at night before bed, then save the backup's in a separate hard drive "Archives" I keep 2 weeks worth on my pc. I am continuously changing and coding things, sometimes I do so much I can't remember what I have or haven't done lol. Never thought of doing it how you said before. I just always did the backup from the Cpanel, then the sql files.
Any idea when you are going to do this ?

I have made some temporary changes to fix it, but will still be redone soon.
Creating a zip of 300mb on the server is extremely resource intensive for the server to be doing every day, it was intended to be used for emergencies only.
ahh ok thanks, did not know that about the resource bit.. Sorry
I've tried 2 times now it downloads fine, but now getting an error. It won't allow me to extract them or anything. This is the only archive file that I am having this issue with. Any suggestions ?

Try extract with winrar and select "keep broken files".
I've got the same thing going on about the archive being damaged or corrupt.

Could an admin please fix the problem, I thought I had a valid backup, but never verified it. Luckily, the changes I made were successfull.
! C:\Documents and Settings\*My Name*\My Documents\Downloads\backup-victor01469-7.Dec.2007.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged
This has been happening since my Dec. 7th backup, until right now.
Please let us know if and when this is repaired.

Delete any old backups.
There is definately no error, nothing in the error logs or temp backup files left over.
All of them was deleted, I tried to do another back up after your post saying it was fixed. I will try again though.
Edit: It's working now, thanks alot!!
