As you can probably tell from my last couple posts, Ive been experiencing problems with some of my members trying to interfere with the user experience.

What free software do you recommend to stop proxies from coming on my site?

I think that you should focus more on fixing the things on your site that the users are messing up rather then blocking proxies. There are times where people may be at work and wont be able to see your site if they cant use proxies. You will also lose some visitors if they cant view your site using a proxy.

There is truly no way to stop all proxies, you will only stop the honest people from visiting your site if you try to block proxies. The ones who are trying to hurt your site will find a way through.

Also, there is no reason for you to keep making new posts about this same issue that your having.

Just keep banning email addresses, usernames, and IP Address. They'll get tired after a while.

IPs don't matter that much, if you ban an IP the person will just get a new one really... so maybe ban the IP for a week or something... that way if there is a new person who gets the IP you dont block them.

Yeah I guess so :p

Main thing to ban though are email addresses. I don't think they'll keep registering new ones over and over to attack a site... really... if they still kept at it then wow... someone doesn't have a life...

Also make it admin-approval to enter the forum/site. I hate problematic users like that (the ones that keep trying to get in and start things on your own forum because something isn't going their way...) Had one a while back when I was first starting on forums. He kept PM'ing me about him wanting to be a mod and I kept saying no because there wasn't a need (wasn't a very active forum at the time) and he kept getting into fights with others...

But yeah I should stop now before I make a long boring post :p lol

Besides, they now have "Temporary e-mail address" websites, which provide you with a 4 hour temp e-mail, no registration required. You are then able to pass activation of any forum, without having to have your own real e-mail. I am not going to post the links on this forum, because I don't want to get blamed for advertising, but if you are interested in finding more, PM me.

The only way to really fix this, as I have found out in the past, and like wwe is saying, is requiring admin/mod activation for each new user. This way, you may verify the e-mail address is real, the ip is unique, and the user is not multi-registering.

You can just ban the domains of those temporarary email sites.
