View Full Version : Attn Admin: Subdomain question
I just made a free account, byx.umld.com. I want to use your servers to learn CMS and PHP. I also want to make a forum for events in my area, this I hope to attract users to, and to be a working forum, not a "toy" one.
I made the following subdomain: byxforum.umld.com. It accepted it on the admin panel, to my surprise.
It seems like I should have to make it a subdomain of my domain, which is a subdomain!
Example: byx.byxforum.umld.com. Thank you for your services, it looks pretty good actually. No Fantastico script installer..but that's all right too.

I really don't understand your question, but when you create a folder on your domain/subdomain, the subdomain is automatically created.
EXAMPLE:
victor.ulmb.com/forum = forum.victor.ulmb.com
For things like forums, you'll most likely need to manually specify the subdomain in a config.php file, or in the admin control panel.
Hope I understood your question, good luck!
No you didn't understand Victor, but I worded it poorly.
my original sign up site is byx.ulmb.com so.. I see that a person can have subdomains.
I created one, called byxforum. It shows up as byxforum.ulmb.com.. I have TWO sites that are ulmb subdomains.
my understanding was that it would be a subdomain, of my subdomain. Anyways..I am pleased the way that turned out.

no no no ulmb.com is owned by unlimitedmb.com and is offered as a subdomain for users. You can make any subdomain that you want for ulmb.com :/

Thats the way its supposed to work.
If you want byxforum.byx.ulmb.com you just create the directory "byxforum"
http://byxforum.byx.ulmb.com/ shows whatever is at http://byx.ulmb.com/byxforum/

It seems creating an additional website, byxforum.ulmb.com, worked out better for him/her than creating a subdomain from his current.
(Just a clarification message)
