Do you guys support Google apps for domains? I was wondering because I would like to use Gmail as the host for my domain's email. I have signed up, validated my ownership over the domain and got to the email part. I have to configure my MX records to point to their servers. So I went into the DNS records, and selected MX and I put in the value that google provided me (ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM). It proceeded and showed the value back to me above the part where you enter it. So I clicked that I have completed the steps and they took 48 hours to check the configuration and it says it's wrong.

This has happened to me 3 times so far, and I'm starting to wonder if you guys even support this. If so what am I doing wrong?

I am uncertain of how google apps works, there may be more you need to do then just set the MX.

Setting the MX will work, but if they try to connect to our DNS to verify then it may fail if they have the check set too strict, or they expect to use custom priority numbers.

It would probably be easier for you to use our mail server and either forward to gmail or have gmail retrieve the mail from our pop3 server.

Does gmail let you skip the verification of the MX entry?

Here is what I found...it's a "sample message" I'm supposed to send to you when I need help or can't configure my settings by myself.

I recently signed up for a service called Google Apps. It allows me to use Google applications with my domain name. My domain is hosted with you and I need help in changing the MX records. To use Google for email, I have to point the MX records for my domain to Google's mail servers.
Since Google is not a domain host, they aren't able to configure the MX records for my domain.

There are multiple MX records. The first one is ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. and it should have the highest priority (smallest priority value eg. 1). This is the most important MX record.

If I can have more MX records, each should have a lower priority level. The remaining MX records (smallest priority value eg. 1). are:

ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5
ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10
ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10
Once these MX records are configured correctly, I'll be able to receive mail for my domain in my Google Apps email accounts.

We do not support multiple MX or MX priority levels.

The one MX ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM should be enough, but you said it did not work.
Please explain why you think it did not work.

I don't know why it didn't work. They also said if the host doesn't support priority levels (which I assumed you didn't because the option wasn't available) to use the one I provided. So I put that as the value, and clicked that I changed the MX record.

Here is a screenshot of my DNS records page.

This is the first time someone has reported that it doesn't work.
Are you sure that you have waited enough time since the change?

Is there a certain amount of time I'm supposed to wait before telling them I have changed them? If so I feel really stupid right now then...

Your MX is working properly and so far in this thread you have shown nothing as to why you think its not working.

I don't know why Google said that they weren't configured correctly. I'll try again and post in a few days about what happens. I told you exactly what I did, I am new to these DNS records, and I simply followed Google's instructions...sorry =(

What exactly does the google error message say?

It says "It looks like your MX records aren't configured correctly.."

You need to ask google to check the domain and find out what exactly they have a problem with.
