Hi guys just need some urgent help with this. I want to get forums on my free unlimitedMB account with phpBB-3.0.4. When I upload the file in a .zip format the actual thing will upload but then will throw up a bunch of errors about saying this file cannot start or end with a .dot or something similar. I try to also upload through smart FTP but it doesnt upload either. It will keep on retrying to download at a specific time. Any help will be very very VERY helpful of course. Thanks!
Not sure if I posted this in the right place ;) Forgive me if I did please.

You are attempting to upload .htaccess files, which are not enabled for free accounts.
You can ignore the errors and continue uploading your script without problems, it will not break anything.

Thanks for your help,
There is one more problem. When I have finished uploading everything I go to the site and it gives me a error telling me to add something or rename something to index.html so what do I add/rename in the phpBB files? Ive installed everything and the whole forum is setup its only now that when I got to it as a normal user would is that it doesnt let me. It says:
directory index not allowed
please upload a file named index.html or index.php into this directory to replace this message
If you can still see this page after uploading your index file press CTRL+F5 now.
HELPPP!

Read the error and follow the directions.
In most cases, it's asking you to remove the install directory, or specific files inside of it.
You didn't supply me with the URL of the board, so I cannot help you further.

You probably didn't upload your forum to the root index.
That message is saying that there is no "index" at: yoursite.com
Your forum is most likely located in a subdirectory like: yoursite.com/forum/
If you want your forum on the main domain index, you'll need to move your files over. If not, then just ignore that error until you have a decent homepage uploaded, or create an index redirect using HTML or PHP.

Hi.
Thanks you fixed my problem. However now when I use my forums I see that it says no forums. But when I login as admin and go to the acp (administrator control panel) I see when I go to the forums settings that there are indeed forums. But when I login as a normal user it says no forums even as a guest!
Plzz Help
:) Thanks
You have to set the view permissions.
Find a section where you create your forums that says something along those lines. (Permissions of any kind.) Then you'll be able to add what groups can view what forums, etc.
By default none can be viewed, which in my opinion was kind of dumb as it'd confuse many new Admins.
