PHPBB Install problems

Im pretty much a noob , but I did get as far as to get this error .....
Am I supposed to edit the php file before I upload it to correct this or what??

Im not sure what step to take next , Guru was trying to help me but I need to run out , so here was the error below.

Also I dont have the directory public_html

Will that make a difference or no?

you must use "mysql" instead of "localhost"
