View Full Version : Leaving Remarks
I sorry to inform everyone but I am cancelling my paid account with unlimitedmb this is due to a multitude of reasons that I have outlined on my new site ([link to the article] (http://www.furgelnod.com/thoughts/unlimitedmb-com-and-my-concerns/) - hosted elsewhere). Though I am not continuing the use of the paid services I need to remark here that the free service offered by unlimitedmb.com is excellent, by far surpassing its competitors.
Well that's about all, see you all another time, another account,

We do have encrypted POP3.
Its on port 995 which is standard pop3 ssl port.
Offering large space/bandwidth limits and overloading the server are not the same thing.
At no point were you unable to use the space/bandwidth we provided you, so by definition it is not overloaded.
Its funny you even said that, since your new host offers the same large limits.
I'm sorry that your see our upgrade to a server 5x more powerful then the one we had as an inconvenience for you.
cPanel sucks, I manage several servers with it, its unstable, buggy, its backend is still the same as it was 10 years ago, flat file databases etc...
It restarts apache (leading to 1-5 seconds downtime or lag) every time someone adds/deletes a domain.
It does not properly lock the apache config file when modifying it, two customers add/delete a domain at the exact same second and that file becomes corrupted and apache crashes, you might think two people modify a domain exact second is unlikely, it still happens a few times a year.
Apache is the http server BTW.
These are my personal experiences as a cpanel server admin.
You know why so many hosts have it? its cusomer end is pretty and people like it.
Those hosts have cpanel because it attracts customers, not because its reliable.
We could have done the same thing, but we decided to make ours more reliable.

I don't see why people can't be happy with what they get, this is by far the best free host I've used so far; and I've been through quite a lot of different hosts.
The cPanel is great, it's quite reliable, and I don't, in all honesty care where the data-center, or servers are, they're great and not once have I had a problem with this host.

I agree with Eric and David.
All the hosts I've used (except ULMB) have all had the same cPanels (VistaPanel, cPanel) and it was just awful! Their FTP servers were so slow, even my 104 year old grandad could beat it in a race :o ULMB have an FTP server so fast, I get dizzy just watching the commands wizz through the FTP Program. Most hosts are expensive, and some only allow certain stuff on their hosting plans (No MySQL server or very little disk and bandwidth space). The only thing that annoys me on ULMB is the ads that pop-up on every page on my websites. And I can't wait to go to a Tiny Account, as I will soon be using my EMA from college to pay for the hosting. Some of the ads even cause my anti-virus, Avast! to pop up saying "This URL contains malicious software" and it blocks the site from entering, which is a good thing for me. But other than that, I say ULMB is the #1 webhost in the universe!
Just so you the two last commenters understand, I'm referring to the paid hosting (in my last year and a bit here I was on tiny hosting plan). The free hosting ulmb provides is excellent and better than any free hosting I have tested, hence I used it for nearly 3 years. That said I think the paid hosting elsewhere is better, maybe slightly more costly, but more professional and with features that, in my opinion, outshine those here on ulmb.
