View Full Version : PHP Function Restrictions
Okay, new Problem:
Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration
I'm trying to open a remote XML file to display its content
(3 RSS feeds from the BBC.co.uk, KVRAudio.com, and Democracynow.com)
Any Suggestions??

You will not be able to connect to remote servers.
This is Ridiculous,
U guys have way too many restrictions,
I appreciate that your service is free, and you are trying to be secure or whatever, but I've basically just wasted a whole bunch of my time / data allowance, uploading files and trying to sort problems when I, in reality am Totally unable to even display my site. Needless to say I'm a little agitated.
I'm sorry, I've obviously grossly over estimated this ULMB's Support / Quality and have wasted everyone's time here.
If you are looking for a suggestion - Can you please disclose ALL restrictions in before you allow people to sign up - it would save a lot of stress for everyone involved, esp. cash strapped / time poor developers like me who have alot of other stuff on their plate.
See you guys later better luck next time i guess
-off to look for somewhere else.....

You can use the phpinfo() function to see the php restrictions.
These restrictions are standard for free hosting, except for "free cpanel" hosts, which dont last for more then a few months.
A) I've setup websites on free cpanel hosts that have been up over 12months.
B) You are the only host ive ever seen that imposes the restrictions i've seen here
ok...it's time to stop ur hand now.

Well... if you have been with a free host for 12 months why did you need us? If there are soo many better hosts why did you come running to us?
