How would I go about allowing a public user to downlaod files form a folder in my ftp.

For example...a thread in my forum has a link to Core Temp.exe which is housed in a folder on the ulmb ftp server. But when I click on the link it asks for username and password. Now I assume that I can make a user account that has these specific permissions, but is there a way to make downloading totally free of the user/pass? Because I can only have 5 users registered to access.

You are absolutely not allowed to do this.

FTP is for your use only.
Giving out your ftp information will get your account cancelled.

If you want your visitors to download your file you can give the http link.

Thread moved to Support forum.
Please not post in the wrong section.

Yeah, I figured it out. I guess I didn't word it properly either. I don't want to give out ANY of my information, but I thought that to download a file from an ftp service you needed to use ftp://***. I didn't realize http:// would connect directly to it. Thanks.

oh, and I did post in the support area...but my login expired when I clicked to post my thread and after I clicked login again it automatically posted me in the general area but I can't move threads. Sorry.
